Hi, I’m Erika Romer.
Founder, StoryPop Collective · Co-Founder, Seven Seas Press I’ve spent years helping authors turn manuscripts into real, published children’s books through editing, illustration, and the full journey from a story in your head to a book in a child’s hands. I fell in love with children’s books the same way most people do: I fell in love with what they can do.
A picture book isn’t just a bedtime routine. It’s the first time a child sees someone who looks like them in the pages of a story. It’s the moment a parent gets to say that’s us to their kid. Stories connect people, and children’s books do it at the exact age when those connections matter most.
On the other hand, books can be a portal into someone else’s lived experience, another culture, another place, another time, another dimension entirely. They build empathy before children even have a word for it.
Why StoryPop Collective exists…
I kept seeing the same thing over and over. Talented people with meaningful, beautiful, important stories. Joyful stories. Funny stories. Stories that deserved to exist in the world, getting stuck, overwhelmed, or quietly turned away by a publishing system that does not welcome them.
Traditional publishing is slow, gatekept, and inaccessible. But self-publishing presents its own problem: the options are overwhelming. Where do you even start? What do you actually need? How do you know if you’re doing it right?
StoryPop Collective exists to be a roadmap. A clear, honest, step-by-step path from inspiration to a published book on Amazon KDP, built by someone who has done it many times and knows exactly where people get lost.
